First, a subgroup of miRNAs (miR-15b-5p, miR-17-5p, miR-18a-5p, miR-19a-3p, miR19b-3p, miR-20a-5p, miR-20b-5p, miR-21-5p, miR-23b-5p, miR-24-3p, miR-27a-3p, miR-92a-3p, miR-93-5p, miR-142-3p, miR-344b-2-3p, miR-431, miR-466b-5p and miR-674-3p) displayed increased expression levels during latency (4 and 8 days after SE), decreased their expression levels at the time of the first spontaneous seizure and returned to control levels in the chronic phase (Fig. 2, Supplementary Fig. S1).
