To assess the universality of 5′ start sites for these miRNA, we then reanalysed miRNA data from other murine tissues [22] and saw that, of the 105 examples, 12 had not previously been noted as they were not appreciably expressed in any of these other tissues (<10 tags; miR-1927, -1982, -3057, -504*, -1946b, -3079, -3076, -3082, -1949, -511, -2145-1, -1937c, the latter two were removed from miRbase version 17). [score:3]
After applying a ≥150 tag expression threshold we retained 5 examples of novel generic miR* (miR-1927*, -1196*, -184*, -1983* and -721*; Figure 5A & C, Table 3), whose position is consistent with canonical Drosha/Dicer processing of the respective miRBase-annotated miRNA hairpin structure. Furthermore, the expression levels of 8 DEMs (i. e., miRNA-1927, miRNA-802-5p, miRNA-6236, miRNA-3968, miRNA-126-5p, miRNA-100-5p, miRNA-5100, and miRNA-3102-3p) were also verified by qRT-PCR (Supplementary Table S5). [score:3]
Among them, 4 miRNAs were induced in common between these two dosage exposures, i. e., miR-504-3p, miR-1927, miR-6401, and miR-1892. [score:1]
