Hsa-mir-625 is a microRNA that has been identified as down-regulated in certain studies and is implicated in various biological processes and diseases [PMC3205057]. It is one of the microRNAs predicted to target genes associated with Alzheimer's disease [PMC9312389] and has been included in a minimal set of miRNAs to distinguish between different types of peripheral T-cell lymphomas [PMC4335255]. Hsa-mir-625 is also among the top differentially expressed miRNAs (DEmiRs) identified in certain screenings, suggesting its potential as a biomarker [PMC5759858]. It has been found to be distinctively expressed in smooth muscle cells, indicating its role in cellular differentiation [PMC8082160]. Furthermore, hsa-mir-625 has associations with breast cancer (BC) known disease genes and miRNAs, highlighting its relevance to cancer progression and potential as a prognostic marker [PMC6412941], [PMC7942015]. Studies have also investigated the effect of hsa-mir-625 upregulation on apoptosis and proliferation through the ILK signaling pathway, suggesting its functional significance in cellular processes [PMC9375600]. Additionally, hsa-mir-625 expression levels have been observed to vary between different stages of oocyte maturation [PMC4919285], indicating its role in developmental biology. Its expression was found upregulated in bile duct cancer as well, further underscoring its importance in oncology research [PMC5073992].
