MIR4451 is a microRNA (miRNA) that exhibits dynamic expression patterns in response to various cellular conditions and developmental stages in plants. It was found to be suppressed by atRA exposure, indicating a potential regulatory role in response to this retinoic acid [PMC4168020]. However, during differentiation, MIR4451 was induced alongside other miRNAs, suggesting a complex role in cellular processes [PMC4168020]. In the context of seed development, MIR4451 was one of the miRNAs selected for expression level analysis by qRT-PCR due to its up-regulated expression and its association with nutrient metabolism [PMC6138641]. Interestingly, its expression levels decreased over time from 28 days after flowering (DAF) to 42 DAF in seed grain filling periods (SGP), which could be linked to its role in modulating nutrient storage through its target CM 17 [PMC6138641]. Furthermore, MIR4451's expression was significantly up-regulated from 7 DAF to 21 DAF with a peak at 21 DAF during SGP [PMC6138641]. The target genes of MIR4451 and other miRNAs showed converse expression profiles during grain filling periods, which could indicate regulatory interactions between these miRNAs and their targets during seed development [PMC6138641].
