By analyzing the expression of lincRNAs candidates and miRNAs targets, two of these cold and/or drought stress-related lincRNAs (linRNA159 and 340) were predicted to be target mimics of miR164 and miR169, respectively. [score:7]
Considering the coordinate expression pattern of linRNAs and miR164/169 targets, it is intriguing to associate these two lincRNAs with the important functions of miR164/miR169 in regulating cold and/or drought stress responses. [score:6]

miR169 targeted NF-YA family genes, and over -expression of NF-YA5 and NF-YA3 or down-regulation of miR169 might enhance drought stress tolerance in Arabidopsis and soybean [34, 35]. [score:8]
Surprisingly, some of the miRNAs slicing their targets were confirmed, but being positively correlated with the targets; these miRNA:target pairs included miR156: SPL13b, miR169: NF-YA3 and miR394: APL2/F-box. [score:7]

In the current study, plant miRNAs from conserved and highly expressed families (e. g miR156, miR160, miR164, miR166, miR169 and miR171) were shown to have potential targets in the genomes of two begomoviruses. [score:5]

The miR169 family targets the CCAAT -binding transcription factor and the nuclear transcription factor Y subunit A-8. The CCAAT -binding transcription factor is a sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor that is involved in double fertilization forming a zygote and endosperm. [score:3]
